PTGC / Bartooler Dispenser
PABLE Design collaborated with PTGC to develop the Bartooler Dispenser, a milestone project designed in response to the growing trend of rapid batch-brew coffee. The machine is capable of serving a cup of coffee in just eight seconds, offering unmatched speed and efficiency.
Leveraging PTGC’s expertise in café operations and market knowledge, the project replaced reliance on imported coffee machines by realizing the entire process—technology development, product design, manufacturing, and mass production—directly in Busan, Korea. As a result, Bartooler not only secured domestic market share but also expanded into global exports, marking a significant achievement for the Korean coffee machine industry.
At the front, the large rectangular display became the most distinctive visual icon of the product. More than an interface, the flat screen functioned as a digital signage, commanding attention in café environments. It not only displayed coffee menus but also broadcasted branding and promotional media, serving as a luminous media object even when not in active use.
PABLE Design은 PTGC와 협업하여 Bartooler Dispenser를 개발했습니다. 이번 프로젝트는 빠르게 성장하는 커피 배치브루 시장의 흐름에 맞추어, 8초 만에 커피를 제공할 수 있는 커피 음료 디스펜서를 목표로 했습니다.
PTGC가 보유한 커피 전문점 운영 경험과 시장 지식을 기반으로, 해외 수입품에 의존하던 커피머신을 부산에서 직접 기술개발–제품디자인–제조–양산까지 완성한 기념비적인 제품입니다. 그 결과 국내 시장 점유뿐 아니라 해외 수출에도 성공하며 한국 커피머신 산업의 새로운 가능성을 열었습니다.
전면부에 자리한 대형 직사각 디스플레이는 Bartooler의 가장 큰 시각적 아이콘입니다. 평평한 화면은 단순한 인터페이스를 넘어, 매장 안에서 시선을 압도하는 디지털 사인(Signage) 역할을 합니다. 커피 메뉴 정보는 물론 매장 브랜딩이나 이벤트 영상까지 송출되며, 사용하지 않을 때에도 공간 속에서 빛나는 미디어 오브제로 기능합니다.
The design was developed from a user-centered perspective. A pop-up display delivers beverage information, store and event videos, and even media art when not in use, enhancing both customer engagement and advertising value. Beyond functionality, the dispenser was created as an emotional object that blends naturally into diverse café environments while reducing labor costs.
Additionally, auto-sensing technology enables automatic extraction when a cup is placed, providing a seamless and efficient user experience.
디자인은 사용자 관점에서 연구되었으며, 팝업 디스플레이를 통해 음료 정보와 매장·행사 관련 영상을 제공하고, 사용하지 않을 때에도 매장 분위기에 맞춘 미디어 아트를 상영하여 광고 효과까지 더했습니다. 또한 인건비 절감과 함께, 오브제적인 디자인으로 다양한 카페 환경에 자연스럽게 어우러집니다.
또한 오토센싱 기능으로 컵을 올리면 설정값에 따라 자동으로 추출되는 편의성을 제공했습니다.
The body was crafted using stainless steel sheet-metal forming, creating a structural volume defined by straight lines and right angles. This expressed the sturdiness of industrial machinery, evoking the reliability of kitchen appliances or laboratory instruments. The thick planes of sheet metal and the intentionally exposed bolts were not concealed. Instead, they highlighted functional authenticity over decorative completeness, making the “visible structure” itself the design language of Bartooler.
본체는 주방용 스테인리스 판금 성형을 기반으로 제작되었습니다. 직선과 직각으로 이루어진 구조적 볼륨은 산업 기계의 견고함을 드러내며, 마치 주방 설비나 실험실 장비와 같은 신뢰성을 전달합니다. 또한 판금 특유의 두터운 면과 노출된 볼트는 의도적으로 숨기지 않았습니다. 이는 장식적인 완결성보다는 기능적 진정성을 드러내려는 선택으로, ‘보이는 구조’가 곧 Bartooler의 언어가 되었습니다.
The first-generation Bartooler was not merely a coffee machine, but an object that defined the center of its environment. The glow of its display, the materiality of metal, and its linear structure all conveyed a monumental attitude, declaring a new era of coffee experiences. This approach laid the foundation for the design evolutions of later generations, including injection molding and the slide-based interface.
Bartooler 1세대는 단순한 커피머신이 아니라, 공간의 중심을 차지하는 오브제로 자리하였습니다. 디스플레이의 빛, 금속의 질감, 직선적 구조는 모두 새로운 시대의 커피 경험을 선언하는 듯한 기념비적 태도를 보여줍니다. 이러한 태도는 이후 세대의 조형적 실험(사출 성형, 슬라이드 인터페이스 등)으로 확장될 수 있는 기반이 되었습니다.
